Am I a Candidate for Cosmetic Surgery?

A Realistic Self-Evaluation Outline

COSMETIC SURGERY has been marketed to the public as just another trip to the beauty parlor. And although the techniques are generally effective and relatively safe, all surgery and anesthesia have some risk.

When considering COSMETIC SURGERY, first take a few minutes to think about and write down your answers to the following questions. Then compare your responses to our insights that are posted here.

  • MOTIVATION:
Why am I considering plastic surgery?

  • LIFESTYLE:
Is my lifestyle healthy and consistent with having surgery to improve myself?

  • GENERAL HEALTH PROBLEMS:
Do I have any serious medical or emotional problems that would increase my risk of having surgery?

  • TIMING:
Is this a convenient and appropriate time to have this surgery?

  • FINANCIAL:
Can I afford the cost of surgery?

  • INFORMATION:
Do I have sufficient information to make the decision about having elective surgery?

  • SURGEON:
Have I researched the surgeon's credentials, reputation, hospital affiliations, etc.?

  • SECOND OPINION:
Do I need more than one opinion?

Next, read our insights on these same questions.
