Arm Lift in Dallas, Texas

Arm lift surgery, also known as brachioplasty, is a cosmetic procedure designed to improve the appearance of your upper arms by removing excess skin and fat. An arm lift is typically performed on patients who have lost significant weight and are left with loose, sagging skin or have a loss of skin elasticity due to the natural aging process.

What is an Arm Lift?

While exercise can tighten the muscles of your arms, it can’t do anything to address excess sagging skin. The goal of an arm lift is to remove redundant skin and tissue on your upper arms, restoring their shape and proportion. Arm lifts are for patients with excess skin on their arms. It is not only unsightly but can also restrict movement or even cause pain. An arm lift can be performed alone or combined with other procedures, like a body lift or tummy tuck.

What Are the Benefits of an Arm Lift?

There are several benefits to the procedure.

  • An arm lift improves your arm contour, giving you more tone and definition.
  • An arm lift helps restore proportionality to your arms, bringing them into balance with the rest of your body.
  • An arm lift can give you an improved range of motion, as removing excess skin allows for more freedom of movement.
  • The extra skin under your arm can cause painful chafing or chronic rashes, but an arm lift can eliminate those issues.
  • You may experience increased confidence and self-esteem, as you no longer have to be self-conscious about drooping upper arms.

Am I a Candidate for an Arm Lift?

Ideal candidates for an arm lift are men and women who have significant skin laxity in their upper arms. The laxity is often caused by substantial weight loss, weight fluctuations, or loss of elasticity due to genetics or aging. You may also have asymmetrical or large arms that are out of proportion with the rest of your body. Additionally, ideal candidates understand that an arm lift leaves a long scar on the underside of your arm. The scar will fade over time.

In general, arm lift candidates should be non-smokers at a healthy, stable weight and have no medical issues that would complicate surgery or recovery.

How is an Arm Lift Performed?

An arm lift is an outpatient procedure performed using general anesthesia. Dr. Pollock starts by making an incision on your upper arm, typically extending from your armpit to your elbow. He removes excess skin and fat, occasionally using liposuction to shape the area further.

What is Recovery Like After an Arm Lift?

After your surgery, your arms will be bandaged, and you’ll wear a compression garment to reduce swelling. You will experience some bruising, swelling, and minimal discomfort, but this can be alleviated with prescription or over-the-counter pain relievers.

You should expect to take a week off of work to recover, and your return to work will depend on whether your job is sedentary or more physical. You will not be able to lift more than five pounds for the first couple of weeks after your surgery and should also refrain from any strenuous activities.

Dr. Pollock will provide specific instructions regarding your arm lift recovery, including scheduling any follow-up visits and when you can expect to return to all activities, including your exercise routine.

How Much Does an Arm Lift Cost?

The cost of an arm lift varies depending on the skill of your surgeon, techniques, extent of surgery, type of anesthesia used, and facility fees.

After your consultation, Dr. Pollock will give you an exact quote for your arm lift procedure.

Financing options are also available.

When Will I See My Results From My Arm Lift?

While you will immediately be able to see improvement in your arms, your full results won’t be visible until the swelling has resolved, usually about 3-6 months after surgery. After your incisions heal completely, you can apply scar gels, creams, or silicone strips to help further reduce their visibility.

The results of your arm lift are considered permanent.
